February 15, 2008, Newsletter Issue #85: Social Security: How to Apply

Tip of the Week

Social Security is the basis for most people's lifetime retirement income. Surprisingly, many people don't realize that you must apply for Social Security benefits. You also need to have acquired at least forty Social Security credits and be a United States citizen. You can also begin to earn Social Security benefits starting at the age of sixty two, however, the later you wait to receive your benefits, the larger your check will be. To apply for Social Security go to your local Social Security office and fill out the paperwork.
