February 22, 2008, Newsletter Issue #86: Social Security and Eligibility

Tip of the Week

Many people will rely on their Social Security benefit as the basis for their lifetime retirement income. To receive Social Security benefits, you must be eligible. Eligibility is determined by the amount of credits you have. You will need to have at least forty credits to be eligible for benefits. The more income you make, the faster you can earn credits. Typically, it will take roughly 10 years to earn enough credits to be eligible for Social Security benefits.
